
Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the most popular exams conducted by UPSC. It is widely known as the ‘IAS exam’ even though CSE is a common exam to recruit candidates to about 24 top government services like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, etc.
UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) consists of 3 stages. The stages are:
- Preliminary Exam (objective)
- Main Exam (written)
- Interview (personality test)
PRELIMINARY EXAM SYLLABUS
PRELIMS has two papers:
- GS PAPER I
- Current event of National and International importance
- History of India and INM
- Indian and World Geography- Physical, social, economic, the geography of India and the world
- Indian Polity and Governance- Constitution, Political system, Panchayati Raj, Public policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social development- sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives
- General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity, and climate change that do not require subject specialization
- General Science

2. CSAT PAPER II
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision making and problem-solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy ( numbers and their relation, orders of magnitude) {class X level}
- Data interpretation ( charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc) {class X level}
